TERPENES

Terpenes are the aromatic, flavored, and occasionally colored compounds found in cannabis. While often being used as a flavor and scent additive in a variety of products, most terpenes have a bioactive element and there is evidence to suggest that these bioactive qualities have the ability to enhance the effects of cannabinoids in the body.

CANNABINOIDS

There are 124 known cannabinoids found in every part of the cannabis plant, with a particular abundance in the flower. These are divided into  MAJOR/ MINOR profiles.

It is believed that these minor profiles produce potentially therapeutic benefits when introduced to the body.

SAFETY SCREENS

assured testing lab, cannabis, cannabis testing, ATL, THC, CBD, potency, safety, marijuana, weed, pot, testing lab, cannabis compliance, CCC, independant testing lab, massachusetts, vape, vaporizer, vitamin e acetate, weed pen, heavy metals, metal

Testing heavy metals is required to ensure product quality and safety. Trace elements must be analyzed because the cannabis plant accumulates heavy metals from soil, some of which includes cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and lead.

VITAMIN E ACETATE

While Vitamin E acetate is safe to ingest and apply topically, there are numerous studies that show it can cause harm when inhaled.  The substance has been found as an additive in vaping products, particularly those containing THC/CBD. This was the main contributing factor in vaping related injury. Testing for the presence and quantity of this additive will provide the customer with assurance in the quality and safety of their products.

Although certain types of these substances have been approved for consumption by the FDA, there are still risks associated with burning, transforming and inhaling certain chemicals. Testing products for these substances helps ensure consumer quality and safety.

RESIDUAL
SOLVENTS

Solvents used in the cannabis industry include but not limited to butane, propane,  carbon dioxide. This is done to produce a final refined product, and must be properly purged during the extraction process. However, there is potential that high volumes of these solvents can still remain present after the purging. Screening of solvents is necessary for assuring safety and quality.

During the cultivation or storage stage, cannabis can be susceptible to the natural growth of fungi that produce toxic metabolites called mycotoxins. Mycotoxin testing will give you the knowledge that your products are safe for inhalation and consumption.

Microbiological contaminates exist virtually everywhere and seldom cause harm to humans, however,  under certain conditions such as heat or storage they can become hazardous. Screening for these contaminates is necessary for the assurance of safety of the various products.
